Macarthur
At first, I was questioning, “Why is the title ‘MacArthur’?” What does he have to do with the book? But I knew I had to be patient when it comes to Ong’s book, because surely, there’ll be a surprise in the end.
And I was right to have thought so. MacArthur rubs in the issue of poverty, graft and corruption, theft and drug addiction. This is the first of Bob Ong’s books that, despite the funny capers, I grew sad over reading it. I couldn’t help but empathize with how the lives of the characters turned out. And in the end, I knew why the title was as it is. The last part of the book may’ve not sufficed to eliminate the tears in my eyes while reading this and the fact that I wished to change what happened, but it was uplifting to know that even with all the life-shattering experiences, there’s always hope for us and it’s never too late to change for the better.

I bought and read this just because of a dare from my friends. But I'm glad they dared me for I wouldn't be able to see the real beauty and talent of a Filipino writer. (yes, I haven't read any book from a Filipino writer even I am born and live in the Philippines. I'm sorry.)What is the book all about:This is on the subject of unexpected reality. (read this to see what I am really talking about. HAHAHAHAHAWhat I liked:I admire how Bob Ong wrote this one. It's just a short story (for me) and is
Favorite Bob Ong-book. A socially relevant book that tackles issues and realitywith all its horridnessof society. Endings also a bomb, I cried bucket of tears. 😂

For a short read, this has been very heartwarming and unfortunately sad. The title is deeply mysterious and surprisingly, in the end, the most perfect title for the book. You may wonder at first why, but as you go over through the whole story, you will consider Bob Ong as the wittiest. The book follows the story of 4 best friends, Voltron, Noel, Cyrus and Jim with the setting of poverty, theft, drug addiction and conflicts between personal relationships with the family. It is written very
be careful!sagana sa muraxD
Ever since I read this as well as Bob Ong's book 'Kapitan Sino', I have been terrified every time someone in the story gives an important lesson, because they die in the story.Even if I only read the pdf files for now, I'll make sure at the time I can buy a physical copy of his books, I will sure complete all of those. Especially the books, Si and 56, that I haven't read yet.
I'm very excited and at the same time curious because this story tells about moral lesson about society based on what I read on comment section
