*Review of the Series as a Whole (Not very spoilery though)*I completely adored this series. This is Contemporary Christian fiction at its best. Funny, relatable, inspirational, romantic, and HILARIOUS.Lauren (Laurie, Laur, Nutsy, etc.) Holbrook loves to play matchmaker. She obsesses over getting couples together, and thinks its her special gift. Throughout the series, she puts together a few couples, tries to tear apart others, and overall loves watching all her schemes work out.Hilarious,Honestly, I expected a light, fun read as a break after some heavy stuff Ive been reading lately, but I do have to say that I'm disappointed. First off, this should be filed under Christian Chick Lit and no just regular Chick Lit. While I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with the Christian Religion or Christians at ALL, I think that the book description should have reflected this better, since I am a non-Christian and dont go browsing through the Christian section for a scandalous, fun read. I did not
I read this book in a high school, and I decided it merited a reread recently, if for no other reason than nostalgias sake. This book is even more enjoyable now that Im in a station of life in which people around me are getting engaged left and right. This book is a lighthearted and fun read with occasional food for thought. The doctrine the book espouses does seem to be a bit Calvinist leaning? It doesnt take away from the story if you are not Calvinist, but it does get laid on a little bit
Absolutely LOVED this book. Written by a relatively young author, she has the chick lit genre down-pat. Loosely based on Austen plots, it was laugh-out-loud funny and definitely one to share with and recommend to friends.
Update 16/07/18I've read this so many times. Someone find me a Ryan Palmer, thanks Update 25/10/174 years later and I still have an undying love for this series and all its characters. When I'm sad or mad or feel bleugh I pick up these three books and fall in love with tbe characters all over again. There is no other series that makes me feel so happy inside. 5 stars once again! I can't wait to re-read for 7th time .... Original review Everyone who knows me knows my insane love for the Miss
