Commentary During Books Arcade Catastrophe (The Candy Shop War #2)
It will take more than magical candy to win this war! Something fishy is going on over at the new amusement centre in Walnut Hills. The trouble seems linked to the mysterious disappearance of Mozag and John Dart, who have spent their lives policing the magical community. When Nate and his friends are asked to help investigate, they discover they discover kids feverishly playing arcade games in an effort to win enough tickets to redeem one of four stamps: jets, tanks, submarines and racecars. Rumour has it that the stamps are definitely worth it. But what do they do? The kids soon discover that the owner of Arcadeland is recruiting members for four different clubs. When each club is filled, he will begin his quest to retrieve a magical talisman of almost unimaginable power. With John Dart and Mozag sidelined, will Nate, Summer, Trevor, Pigeon and their new friend, Lindy, find a way to save the day?Point Books Concering Arcade Catastrophe (The Candy Shop War #2)

The Arcade Catastrophe by Brandon Mull is the second book in the Candy Shop War series. It is about a boy named Nate. In the first book of the series, Nate ruined the plans of an evil magician, Belinda White, who tried to use magical candy to take over the world. She found a cup filled with water from the Fountain of Youth, and because the magical candy Belinda made only worked on kids, Belinda planned on drinking it so that she could be a kid again. Nate had no choice but to let her drink fromFirst off, we all know how much I am in love with purple, so the cover itself was intriguing. The artwork is quality and fun, and the purple clinches it for me. And no, I'm not kidding. We really shouldn't judge books by their covers, but we all do it. And this quick judgment was spot on. If you liked The Candy Shop War by Brandon Mull, you will enjoy its sequel Arcade Catastrophe even more. The level of intrigue and creativity is pushed farther taking the story in surprising directions.
Arcade Catastrophe is an excellent sequel to the original Candy Shop, so if you were a fan of the original than The Arcade Catastrophe definitely does do it justice. This book follows the same main characters as the first Nate,Summer,Pigeon, Trevor, along with Lindy who is a new character who was the evil Ms. White but was turned into a good younger magician. One day while the children are doing speed trial runs on their bikes using different magic candy to see which one works best, they are
It was a great book to read. With how everything was laid out it set a good pace and wasn't slow.
This is such a fun series, and I'm still holding out hope for a third one, no matter how unlikely that may be.--Originally read in August 2013------------------------------Reread in August 2016This was just so good! It had been so long since I'd read these two books that I'd forgotten how great they are, but they really really are. I hope one day Brandon Mull writes a third one.
This is the sequel to "The Candy Shop War." It's a stand-alone book, but the first one introduces the main characters more fully, and this one will give away the ending of the first if you don't know it already. This is a very fun, imaginative book full of adventure. There are some funny lines and tricky escapes. I expect kids ages 8-12 to especially enjoy it, but everyone else can, too. Brandon's hallmark Ultimate Sudden Betrayal does not happen in this one.
I didn't like this one quite as much as the first- but maybe that's because I was reading this in between all my other books. This book pretty much followed the formula for the first one, but with a different villain, and a few extra magical candies and characters thrown in. It also seemed a little less believable with all these 11 year olds saving the day- but then again, we're talking about magical candy, and I love Harry Potter, so can I even really judge like that? ;). It's perfect for a
