I really enjoyed book 3 of the Last Survivors series. I feel that it was a bit darker this time around, but I like how the dynamics had been set up for the most part. I wish we got to hear more from Miranda's perspective of their voyage after leaving their home, but it was a great way to tie off her story! I'm really excited to read the last book in the series!



Edit 5/2011: Apparently Pfeffer is hoping to publish a companion to this series ("The Shade of the Moon"), which will take a look at this world they live in 16 years after this book ends. This gives me a bit of hope. My hopes are dashed - there will be no 4th book. If nothing else, Pfeffer's stories get you thinking. Are you kidding me? The novel started strong for me. I liked that we were back in Miranda's point of view (although maybe bouncing between Miranda and Alex would have been more believable and helped make Alex's return to the East Coast more plausible). I really enjoyed this book because it showed the importance of friendship. Unlike Life as We Knew It, rather than survival, I think it was more about how friendship and love can comfort you, but also make you do things you wouldn't normally do.
